As the Senior Data Engineer in Data Governance & Enablement you will be responsible for building data pipelines to enable aid in the construction of key data products for our audience segmentation and digital data enablement capabilities, as well as developing actionable optimisations to improve engagement and sales. Key to success will be building relationships across the Sky Data and Global Streaming organisations to understand their business objectives, challenges and find technical solutions to unleash the power of our data.
You will work closely with other areas of the wider Sky Data OTT team to ensure data flows correctly into the right datasets that are used for reporting, insights, analytics and data science purposes, while ensuring we deliver an optimised set of products to our key business stakeholders.
- Capture, review and provide recommendations for data requirements
- Build data pipelines within our cloud environment for sending and receiving data
- Data flow productionising
- Actively share insights, and results with key stakeholders
- Regularly monitor data sent between components that helps to identify, validate and quantify opportunities to improve customer communications and experiences while translating into quantifiable business benefits
- Define strategic data requirements to our platform teams
- Document processes and techniques to drive operational excellence
Your skills
- Solid experience with BigQuery SQL, Cloud Composer (airflow), Cloud Functions and strong skill with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Experienced using Python, Shell, and Unix utilities for scripting / automation
- Strong interest in analytics, e-commerce and digital media
- Demonstrable experience of using data analytics and insights in a large-scale consumer retail business: media, telecommunications, financial services or insurance
- Effective written communication and presentation
- Highly collaborative, able to work with both technical (data science, developers, ad-ops, tagging) and business (trading, marketing teams) stakeholders
- Analyse internal, external or integrated customer data and information to identify insights that support business decisions and initiatives
- Multi-tasking: able to prioritise tasks towards business impact
- Self-motivated and able to take the initiative to get the job done
- Help define and manage the advanced analytics framework and reporting infrastructure for marketing and media within Data Governance & Enablement
- Solid understanding of data collection, activation and measurement concepts within the digital media space
- Automation of dynamic content extraction from third-party systems
- Experience in the creation, maintenance and QA of data marts a plus
- Experience with RESTful services a plus
- Experience with mParticle or Braze platforms
