Senior Data Engineer

Stratford-Upon-Avon, hybrid working (3 days in office), 60-86k depending on experience levels

All about You:

You'll work as a technical leader senior voice within the Data Engineering team to uphold and evolve common standards and best practices, collaborate to ensure that our data solutions are complementary and not duplicative. contributing to technical design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support and maintenance of their data platform. By going above and beyond implementing new features, the company focus on customer experience, building high-quality, secure, and scalable software.

This is a senior technical role focused on the development of our SaaS products suited to a highly focused, ownership driven Engineer. Development is a small part of the engineer's responsibilities and you'll be expected to contribute to all areas of their Engineering work including product and feature design, leading, and mentoring, and helping to continually improve.

You'll have focused professional experience as a Data Engineer, preferably in Cloud-based SaaS products. Ideally, you'll have at least 5 years of experience here, but theres more focus on skill and ability, not tenure.

What you will be doing:

  • Problem-solving, and the ability and confidence to hack their way out of tight corners. Working as part of an enthusiastic, fast paced, and motivated agile Data Engineering team that takes pride in delivering a high-quality data platform.
  • Coaching and mentoring other engineers.
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy data pipelines and integrations using IPaaS technology.
  • Collaborate on engineering platform ingestion, orchestration, data warehouse/data lake and API strategies for the data management ecosystem.
  • Modern big data architecture design.
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and solid written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Willingness and an enthusiastic attitude to work within existing processes / methodologies.

What your day will look like

  • Interface with other technology teams to design and implement robust products, services and capabilities for the data platform making use of infrastructure as code and automation.
  • Identify and deliver improvements to Data Engineering at the company
  • Collaborate with the DevOps team to provide high availability data solutions that scale geographically.
  • Big data processing - Expertise in processing enterprise-scale volumes of data, ideally with proficiency in Snowflake.
  • Architecture design - Experience in leading the design and implementation of lambda architectures for scalable and reliable data processing.
  • Data Stores - Technical excellence inSQL, NoSQL, Blob,Delta Lake, and other enterprise scale data stores.
  • Data Orchestration - Enterprise scale usage of technology such as Azure Data Factory, Apache Airflow, Logic Apps, DBT, SnapLogic, Spark or similar tools.
  • Software Tooling - GIT/GitHub, CI/CD, deployment tools like Octopus, Terraform infrastructure as code and other DevOps practices.
  • Cloud - Azure hosted and experience of this is a strong preference. However other Cloud platforms like AWS/GCP are acceptable.
  • Coding - Experience using Python with data (Pandas, PySpark) would be an advantage. Other languages such as C# would be beneficial but not essential.
