Role description

We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist for an initial 2 -3 month contract located (inside IR35) in the East Midlands.

Location: East Midlands

Type: Contract - inside IR35

Start: ASAP

The Role:

  • This role is inside IR35, and the successful candidate will develop and implement advanced forecasting models to predict customer demand, points of sales or similar data, leveraging techniques such as time series analysis, regression modeling, and machine learning algorithms
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders and data engineers, to understand data sources, data quality, and business requirements for the forecasting model
  • Design and implement end-to-end data pipelines on Databricks for data ingestion, transformation, and model training/deployment
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of the forecasting model, ensuring accurate and reliable predictions
  • Communicate complex analytical findings and model insights to non-technical stakeholders through clear and compelling visualizations and presentations
  • Mentor and guide junior Data Scientists, sharing knowledge and best practices in forecasting, modeling, and Databricks
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in forecasting techniques, machine learning algorithms, and data engineering tools, and incorporate them into the forecasting solution as appropriate

What you will bring:

  • BSc/MSc/PhD in Maths, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, with a strong focus on forecasting, time series analysis, and predictive modeling
  • Proven experience as a Senior Data Scientist or similar role, with a track record of developing and deploying forecasting models in a production environment
  • Extensive experience with forecasting techniques, including time series analysis, regression modeling, and machine learning algorithms (e.g., ARIMA, exponential smoothing, Prophet, XGBoost, LightGBM)
  • Proficient in advanced Data Science coding languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL) and familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Databricks)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data engineering platforms and tools (e.g., Databricks, AWS, GCP, Azure) for building and deploying data pipelines and models
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching junior Data Scientists, promoting best practices and knowledge sharing
