Job description

Strategic Support Lead

  • Job Type: Full-time, 5-month Contract initially.
  • Location: M60, Manchester
  • Hourly Rate: £40.00-£50.00 per hour

Reed Secure are working in collaboration with a Local Council, they are seeking a Strategic Support Lead to head a service that provides specialist support organisation. This pivotal role involves leading the design, implementation, development, support, and monitoring of policies, procedures, frameworks, and approaches. The role holder will be instrumental in supporting the achievement of strategic and operational objectives, focusing on quality, value for money, and innovation while ensuring organisational assurance.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Lead and drive the development of strategic responses, providing specialist advice, insight, support, and challenge to deliver organisational priorities and legal obligations.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor effective systems and information to support the delivery of key objectives.
  • Represent the service/organisation in meetings, working groups, and forums, proactively driving the delivery of priorities.
  • Act as a strong and clear advocate for the organisation’s people approach.
  • Manage a range of assigned resources, which may include human, financial, or others, to ensure continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Perform staff management duties, which may involve direct line management or matrix management of a virtual team, including appraisals, performance management, and other duties.
  • Demonstrate personal commitment to continuous self-development and service improvement.
  • Ensure diversity is positively valued, resulting in equal access and treatment in employment, service delivery, and communications.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in leading and driving strategic initiatives within an organisation.
  • Strong ability to provide specialist advice and insights to support organisational objectives.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining systems and information that support key objectives.
  • Excellent leadership and advocacy skills, with experience in staff management.
  • Commitment to continuous self-development and service improvement.
  • Strong commitment to diversity and equality in the workplace.
  • Hold an HNC / HND in Engineering and have significant experience in Highways / Construction OR have a degree in a relevant Civil Engineering subject and have significant experience in Highways / Construction.
  • Significant experience of operating and delivering in a Highway or Construction environment and strong relationship management and stakeholder experience with the ability to positively influence.
