You re a Structural Design Engineer / Senior Design Engineer, ready to take on the challenge of running your own Design office, based in Northampton. Working on cutting edge designs and acting as the overall technical lead, you ll head-up all aspects of our busy Design Team, from initial Structural Survey to final approval. BASIC SALARY: Up to GBP60,000

JOB DESCRIPTION:Senior Design Engineer, Senior Structural Design Engineer, Structural Engineer - Structural Steel, Formworks, Rail, Cranes, Fabrication

You may already be an experienced Senior Structural Design Engineer who loves being in the thick of things, but it s now time for you to move up and officially take the helm (fully supported by an experienced leadership team).

In this brand new role you ll be the primary approver for all Structural Designs. You ll be responsible for improving the structural design process and driving efficiencies across our small, but very busy engineering design office.

It s a varied role and will include:
Managing the workflow of the design office
Motivating and leading a small team of 2 CAD Technicians / Draughtspeople.
Creating calculation packs for our Crane and Hoist Systems.
Conducting on-site surveys.

You ll also work closely with both clients and suppliers to make sure order processes flow smoothly and everyone is kept up to date.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:Senior Design Engineer, Senior Structural Design Engineer, Structural Engineer - Structural Steel, Formworks, Rail, Cranes, Fabrication

To become our Senior Structural Design Engineer you MUST be a qualified Structural Engineer with a proven commercial track record. You ll also be a great communicator and either already have leadership experience of be ready to step into your first management position.

You will:
Be able to create detailed calculation packs and also have CAD systems experience to design 2D & 3D Parts and assemblies (SolidWorks is preferred although not essential as full training will be provided).
Show confidence in your work when discussing projects with various clients.
Have experience in steel fabrication and a good understanding of the manufacturing process.

Due to the nature of the on-site surveys it s also vital that you re comfortable working from heights
