Senior Design Engineer

Engage Talent Partners are supporting our client to recruit for Senior Design Engineers, based in Aberdeen.

Our global client provides a suite of services to the offshore energy and maritime industries and has enjoyed some excellent growth to date. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role will provide support from conception, detail design and project management to delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out conceptual and detailed 3-D modelling, detailed engineering drawings and schematics, using proprietary CAD packages.
• Undertake engineering calculations, ensuring fitness for purpose of designs.
• Effective design optimisation, including the selection of components and materials.
• Carry out engineering analysis, primarily Finite Element Analysis.
• Lead, and participate in, in-house and client-based design reviews.
• Review and approval of engineering drawings, calculations, analysis models and documentation.
• Compilation of technical and commercial documentation.
• Project engineering and management of design and build projects.
• Monitor live budget for projects.
• Provide support to the development and submission of tenders.
• Liaison with 3rd party design verification bodies
• Provide day to day leadership, supervision, support, and guidance of junior engineers in their project activities and in their engineering development.
• Provide offshore engineering support activities from onshore, as well as from location offshore, as required.

Applicants must have a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and have a minimum of 5 years of design experience within marine and sector. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge in structural engineering and materials technology as well as a good understanding of manufacturing processes. You will also be proficient in Finite element analysis and have good working knowledge of various engineering software’s.
