Hours: 35 per week
East Craigs are looking to recruit for an exciting role within the Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in leading and developing learning and teaching across the school.
East Craigs Primary School is a busy and vibrant school with a current role of 450 across primary and nursery. The Senior Leadership Team includes a Head Teacher, two Deputy Head Teachers, a Principal Teacher and Business Manager.
The Senior Development Officer will have a specific Learning and Teaching responsibility. The role will include: • Monitoring Learning and Teaching through robust tracking systems to identify trends, areas of strength and key priority areas. • Team Teaching and supporting small attainment groups. • Working within the Senior Team to identify and support key areas for improvement. • Using data to inform improvements. • Using best practice in terms of learning and teaching to support teachers and learners. • Plan, deliver and implement staff related professional learning. • work with a pupil leadership group on improving learning and teaching experiences. • using assessment data and creating a robust assessment overview • Developing an East Craigs Learning and Teaching policy • Working closely with the HT to identify areas of strength and next steps in learning and teaching. • Leading professional enquiry with a Learning and Teaching staff team. • Classroom observations and moderation • Moderation of learning and teaching - assessment processes • Reinforcing the support from Edinburgh Learns Team • Compiling summary reports of progress • Working with the SFL team to explore data informed decision making.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
