Senior Digital Portfolio Manager: Pay up to £75,748, plus over 27% employer pension contributions, hybrid home working, flexible hours, and great work life balance.

Directing World-class Projects

We're growing our talented Portfolio Management community.

As our new Senior Digital Portfolio Manager you will help us manage plans, risks, issues and dependencies across complex projects and programmes.

Our team ensures timing, structure, planning and prioritisation of DWP's programmes and projects.

You will need to have the skills to lead and build strategic relationships and influence stakeholders. You will proactively engage with your stakeholders to find out what you need to know, to identify risks and ensure standards are met.

You will identify and prioritise new work that aligns to our Digital Strategy and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.

You will provide assurance an executive level we are on target to deliver against our portfolio - getting involved and escalating to make sure we stay on track.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • You will have experience of operating controls within a portfolio context to ensure projects are effectively tracked, responding appropriately to what the project data is indicating.
  • Must have experience of using strong leadership skills to communicate with a variety of stakeholders, using data to support difficult messages in a way that is easy to understand and helps influence Senior-level decision making.
  • Ability to analyse multiple data sets to understand the portfolio and be able to prioritise the most important or highest value tasks for intervention or escalation.
  • You'll have experience of integration planning and managing complex internal and external dependencies including the identification and removal of blockers as needed.
  • You will have experience of ensuring activities remain aligned to strategic priorities and compliant with associated governance and assurance regimes.
  • Demonstrable experience in a senior portfolio management or senior project management role within a major Digital or Change environment.
  • You'll have a recognised Portfolio or Project Management qualification such as:

  • Management of Portfolios (Foundation & Practitioner)
  • Prince2
  • MSP Foundation & Practitioner
  • APM PMQ (formerly APMP)
  • PMI (Project Management Institute)
  • PfMP (Portfolio Management Professional

You'll join us in our brilliant digital hubs in Blackpool, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield or London.

We offer competitive pay from £52,412 - £75,748, based on our assessment of your skills and capability.

You'll be eligible for a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of 27.9%.
