The Senior Digital Project Manager is a pivotal role in the Digital Development and Delivery department, focused on overseeing the cross-functional delivery of digital products and services for Virgin Atlantic. This role involves building and maintaining dynamic teams in a matrix-managed environment, guiding them through complex Digital Projects, and ensuring collaboration and efficiency with delivery vendors and partners.

As a Senior Digital Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects align with business goals, are delivered on time, and within budget. Your role includes managing stakeholder relationships, negotiating with suppliers, and maintaining a clear vision throughout the product lifecycle.

Day to day

Some of your key responsibilities as our Senior Digital Project Manager will be:

Project Management
  • Lead Digital Projects aligning with the company's strategic goals, ensuring integration of advanced technologies and innovative practices.
  • Develop and execute project plans, incorporating elements of digital transformation and modern technology trends.
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement, encouraging the adoption of new methodologies and tools

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
  • Manage complex stakeholder relationships, ensuring clear communication and alignment of project objectives with business goals
  • Present complex technical information to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams, business units, and external partners, ensuring collaboration and mutual understanding

Comprehensive Risk Management and Decision-Making
  • Implement risk management strategies, identifying potential risks, issues and dependencies and developing contingency plans
  • Make informed decisions based on thorough analysis and strategic thinking, addressing complex challenges
  • Lead the team in problem-solving, promoting innovative solutions to overcome obstacles

Financial and Commercial
  • Oversee project budgets, ensuring efficient allocation and utilisation of resources and reporting to PMO
  • Manage relationships with suppliers and contractors, ensuring value and alignment with project objectives, generating Statement of Works and Change Requests as required

Regulatory Compliance and Data Management
  • Ensure projects comply with relevant regulations, including data privacy laws and industry-specific guidelines
  • Oversee data management strategies, ensuring the security and integrity of data used in Digital Projects

About you

In addition to the above, we are looking for our successful candidate to demonstrate the following:

Essential
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field such as Business Management, Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale Digital Projects from inception to completion
  • Strong knowledge of Agile and Lean methodologies including Scaled Agile Frameworks with an expert level understanding
  • Experience in managing budgets, timelines, and project scopes effectively
  • Experience in stakeholder management, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Skilled in risk management and contingency planning
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in leading cross-functional teams in a collaborative environment
  • A track record of maintaining delivery momentum in challenging environments

Desirable
  • Relevant certifications like Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PRINCE2, or Agile certifications
  • Understanding of software development life cycles, web technologies, and web development processes
  • Understanding of the regulatory environment related to Digital Projects, including data privacy laws and industry-specific regulations
