The Operations Director is a key member of the Ballina Leadership Team which develops and implements the strategic direction for the organisation as a world class manufacturing operation in line with the vision of Commercial Products Supply (CPS).

The Operations Director leads all manufacturing activities in the operation, ensuring that all commercial commitments to our customers are achieved. This includes day to day management of all quality, safety, capacity, budgetary and human resources matters. The delivery of the Business Plan and Customer expectations is the primary purpose of the role however management of these expectations must incorporate Industry 4.0 and Lean Best Practice (Operational Excellence) methodologies within Operations. This work embodies and delivers the core values of The Coca-Cola Company in a rapidly changing, complex manufacturing environment.

KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As a key member of the Ballina Leadership Team, contributes to the overall strategic planning and day to day management of the operation leading to the development of a World Class Manufacturing Operation.
  • Lead, develop and coach the Operations Management Team with overall responsibility for hiring, performance enablement and development of the overall Operations team.
  • Lead manufacturing activities on a day to day basis managing all of the inputs to ensure production in line with forecast and budget, while meeting customer and quality requirements.
  • Embody and apply safety, quality and environmental practices within the plant.
  • Build organizational capabilities at the individual level to drive operational performance with a high level of employee ownership, through an environment of continuous improvement, teamwork and skill development and flexibility.
  • Work closely with all internal customers and internal suppliers to constantly improve the operation.
  • Working with other Teams on resolving all customer related issues to ensure achievement of leading-edge customer satisfaction.
  • Participate and lead distributed work team initiatives globally.
  • Manage the budget, identify cost effective strategies and drive Value Creation and Lean Initiatives.
  • Embody Operation Excellence methodology and focus in all systems and activities.
  • Responsible for the Business Recovery for the plant in contingency situations.
  • Support the Coca-Cola Company Strategic Framework in line with Digitize the System projects.
  • Works with other multinational companies and vendors on new technologies and automation developments to keep the plant up to date.

PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a high tech, large volume, manufacturing environment, typically beverages, pharmaceuticals, food or healthcare.
  • 5 years' experience in a senior management position as head of a function.
  • Experience of managing large multi-disciplinary teams in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of managing complex operating systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated people management within a multi-functional and global organization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including influencing, listening, team-work and building value based relationships.
  • Excellent planning, analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills, with ability to manage and prioritise multiple conflicting demands.
  • Ability to drive continuous process improvements in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to lead major Organisational Change in conjunction with key stakeholders.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Honours University Degree in a Technical, Engineering, Food Science or Business discipline.
  • Post graduate professional or academic qualification, e.g. M.Sc., MBA, etc. is preferred.

COMMUNICATION COMPLEXETIES

  • As a key member of the Ballina Leadership Team, works with the General Manager (GM) and the Leadership Team to set and achieve the plant's strategic and operational goals.
  • Contacts include the CPS General Manager and plant leadership team, as well as GM's and leadership teams of the other concentrate plants worldwide.
  • Significant contact with Corporate senior leaders in the Operations functions and with consultants in the areas or manufacturing and production.
  • Other functional contacts throughout TCCC.
