Senior Ecologist

An opportunity to join a specialist ecological consultancy as a Senior Ecologist has recently opened up. The opportunity calls for an experienced ecologist with a main focus on HRAs, ideally with experience working on development projects. You will be covering projects ranging from small, individual projects all the way to major projects for legacy clients.

Based out of Hampshire, the role would ideally suit someone located in the South East and willing to attend the office twice per week (flexible relating to survey scheduling). Alternatively, there is opportunity for a home-based worker in East Anglia or West Midlands.

The Role:

* Manage small to medium sized projects as directed by managerial staff.
* Ensure delivery of biodiversity objectives, staff survey allocations, project budgets and invoicing.
* Lead team on HRAs and EIAs; managing staff, survey design and report writing and overview.
* Secure repeat business and develop client relationships with both new and legacy clients
* Train and support staff on areas related to your own specialism
* Individually, and oversee, the input of species records database.
* Identify own skill gaps in specialist area and outline training requirements and required developmental support.
* Assist in efficient use of company resources

Qualifications / Requirements:

* Minimum 5 years’ experience in UK Ecology
* Bachelors, or Master’s, degree in relevant field e.g., Ecology, Wildlife Conservation, EIA
* Experience line managing junior consultants (preferably on development projects & including home workers)
* Track record winning work and successful client liaison is advantageous.
* Expert understanding of HRAs, PEAs, UK Habs, BNG and relevant surveys & reports
* Genuine expert on HRA, with ability to train and develop junior staff on the subject.
* Excellent written and spoken English.
