More – Senior Electronic Design Engineer:
The electronics engineer / embedded systems engineer will be a key player within the product development team and will be involved with the design, development and validation of key hardware and embedded software component for the products.
As this is a small company the Senior Electronic Design Engineer will adopt several roles and be involved with aspects of embedded software development and digital electronics design. They will also mentor a small team of junior engineers and assist with implementing new technologies (e.g. artificial intelligence / IoT). Success will lead to leadership and management opportunities.
Skills / Knowledge Required: Senior embedded systems engineer:
- A good Degree or Masters from a good university in a relevant subject (e.g. electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, mechatronics etc.)
- Experience gained as an electronics Design Engineer / embedded software engineer within an industry / commercial product development environment
- Good practical experience of embedded software and ideally applications layer programming (embedded C, C++, Java, Python, etc)
- Experience of digital electronics circuit design (schematic capture, circuit analysis and PCB layout ideally) – use of tools such as Orcad, Altium etc
- Experience of microcontroller programming
- Good problem solving skills coupled with practical electronics ability (able to support prototype development, test and validation activities)
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Others: beneficial skills and knowledge:
- Experience of artificial intelligence / machine learning
- Experience of IoT / Wireless technologies or sensor technologies and DSP
- Knowledge of the manufacture of electronics products (DFM / DFT)
- Leadership / mentoring experience
The ideal candidate would be an ambitious, driven and creative Electronic Design Engineer / embedded systems engineer with a strong academic background and good practical electronics design skills as well as good embedded software programming ability. The engineer should have the aptitude to bring new ideas and implement new technologies to enhance the company’s products.
This Senior Electronic Design Engineer role is based onsite (with 1 day working from home) and is commutable from Blackburn, Burnley, Huddersfield, Leeds Manchester, Oldham, Bolton, Rochdale, and Wigan.
