Job description

The Paul Scherrer Institute PSI is the largest research institute for natural and engineering sciences within Switzerland. For the Real Time and Embedded Systems Development Group we are looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer 80-100 %

Your tasks

  • Develop low-level software, Linux kernel- and EPICS drivers for embedded devices and hardware platforms (e.g. SOM/SOC, Zynq US+, Intel, ARM, PowerPC)
  • Analyse and enhance efficiency, stability and scalability of critical particle accelerator hardware and software systems and large-scale distributed embedded devices, real-time and failure-critical systems
  • Interface and collaborate on Hardware and FPGA design and development with different groups
  • Develop, build and maintain Linux images and kernels – boot images, device trees, file systems, OS provisioning systems

Your profile

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Software or Embedded Systems Engineering or related
  • Experience in embedded systems design and development with multitasking real-time operating systems, hardware and FPGA interfacing or development
  • You possess sound technical, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills and have gained extensive experience in software development close to hardware
  • You enjoy working as part of a team and your excellent communication skills in English make it easy for you to deal with different contact persons and stakeholders
