Senior Engineering Manager (Mainframe Team)
Location: Halifax
Hybrid working: 40% of your time in the office and the rest from home
Working Hours - Please note that this role will require you to be on call outside of normal working hours and there will be an additional on call salary.
Salary & Benefits: £78,634 to £92,510 per annum (experience dependent), plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution, flexible benefits package, private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Where does the role sit in Lloyds?
You'll be part of the IBM Mainframe Services Team, reporting to the Head of Mainframe Service and managing the storage and Linux component teams.
IBM Mainframe Services are the team that looks after the critical infrastructure that underpins Lloyds Banking Group’s (LBG)strategic transactional processing systems, namely the IBM Mainframe. The IBM Mainframe is Lloyds Banking Group’s (LBG)platform of choice for our high-end transactional processing requirements for business units.
What will I focus on?
We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead, inspire and develop a team of backend storage and Linux engineers.
You'll drive a strategic effort to improve the agility and pace of operations and cost of our data stores and Linux Environments for LBG. The services you'll help develop and operate are at the core of our infrastructure and require high quality while moving fast to keep up with our customers' needs.
This is an exciting time to join the Mainframe team! We’re investing heavily (financially & management support) in transformation activities which you'll directly be involved in!
Specific activities you’ll look after day to day might include;

• Team leadership of roughly 17 engineering including personal development and day to day task & demand management. This will take up about 50% of your time!
  
• Working with stakeholders to translate technical incidents into non-technical language
  
• Incident & Change Management
  
• Risk Management & controls
  
• Supporting service improvement & switch to Agile working
  
• Planning & supporting decommissioning & system upgrade activity
  
• Acting as the technical point of contact for the team
  
• Support the Head of IBM Mainframe services!
  
• Talent Management - Supporting our growing apprenticeship/internship & graduate hires as they develop!
  

What we're looking for;
We'd welcome applicants from diverse cultural and sector backgrounds as long as you have focus on Mainframe systems over your career. We'll need to see evidence of the following in your CV;

• Experience in a technical leadership position working at a senior level. Full line & task management.
  
• Background working in the Mainframe sector and familiarity with relevant technical concepts (i.e. some of these areas - Mainframe Development, Storage Solutions, zLinux Operating Systems)
  
• We’re growing! We're focused on growing the young talent in our team and need someone experienced supporting, mentoring & motivating our teams!
  
• Technical Knowledge: Infrastructure Hosting Platforms
  
• Desired: If you have a financial services background or experience working within a regulated environment that would be beneficial.
