Vacancy Description

Public Protection Partnership PPP is a shared environmental heath, licensing and trading standards service for Bracknell Forest and West Berkshire in Berkshire.

We are seeking an Environmental Health Practitioner and/or a Senior/Environmental Control Officer (EH Housing Officer) to join our busy department to work in one of our priority areas of housing. We would welcome applications from EHP’s who do not currently work in housing but have other competencies that could fit with PPP.

Essentially the EH Housing team deal with HMO and Housing and Caravan site related inspections, enforcement and reactive work across the 2 areas to support people into excellent housing.

The post offers a working environment across the PPP areas and will be based in Theale, West Berkshire or Bracknell.

Main Duties and Responsibilities in EH Housing

• Inspections of private sector properties, responding to tenant complaints irrespective of tenure, drawing up schedules of condition & disrepair.

• Inspection of HMOs in line with current legislation

• Inspection of caravan sites – both licenced and unlicensed

• Assessing properties in accordance with Housing Health and Safety Rating System

• Preparation and execution of enforcement notices.

Qualification and Experience

Environmental Health Officer (Grade HI) - Certificate of Registration of the Environmental Health Registration Board or on CIEH Professional Register.

For Senior/Environmental Control Officer role you would be required to demonstrate specialist knowledge of private sector housing, and desirable that you have recent suitable experience in the specialism of housing.

Successful completion of a recognised two-day HHSRS assessors training course is desirable and completion of this (if not already held) would be essential to your competency once in the Housing post.
