This role will help to ensure that our development of projects like the building of Guildford Sewage Treatment works is done in a way that we are protecting our environment, reducing our carbon footprint and being always sustainable. This is an exciting role to ensure that Thames Water can help our environments and agriculture thrive while we deliver life’s essential service.
What you’ll be doing as a Senior Environmental Engineer
  • Lead the environmental de-risking of projects, identifying the environmental risks associated and ensuring appropriate mitigation is followed.
  • Produce, procure, and sign off the relevant environmental deliverables. Typically includes regulatory, sustainability, and biodiversity requirements.
  • Highlight opportunities for biodiversity enhancement.
  • Ensure projects are delivered sustainably and consider low-carbon delivery methods.
  • Liaise with environmental regulators to ensure they are satisfied with our activities.
  • Identify opportunities where improvements could be made.
  • Collaborate with environmental colleagues to ensure a joined-up and consistent approach.
  • Carry out site visits, inspections, and walkovers to ensure compliance.
Hybrid – Clearwater Court
36 hours a week Monday to Friday
What you should bring to the role
  • Passion for protecting and enhancing the environment.
  • Interest and experience in project delivery.
  • Able to adapt to changing scenarios to solve problems.
  • Effective communication and ability to build strong relationships at all levels.
  • Degree level (or equivalent) in an appropriate Environmental/Sustainability discipline.
  • Full driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Knowledge or a background in an environmental or sustainability role.
  • Ability to apply a risk-based approach for managing projects based on knowledge.
