Job Title:         Senior Equipment Engineer

Salary:             £44,000- £49,000 per annum dependent on experience

Location:         Bristol/ Remote

We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Senior Equipment Engineer. The role will be based in Bristol but will be predominantly remote based working. There are also flexible working hours available.

The role of the Senior Equipment Engineer within the Typhoon Equipment Engineering team is a position that thrives on challenges and demands effective decision-making, flexibility, innovation, and a proactive mindset. Here, you'll not only navigate challenges but also seize the exciting opportunity to collaborate closely with subject matter experts at the forefront of a significant evolution in Typhoon cockpit architecture, man-mounted displays, and data loading and recording systems. Your expertise will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of cutting-edge aviation technology.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work with system architects, specialists from other disciplines, project teams and suppliers to define and agree the specifications for airborne equipment and their associated support requirements.
  • Development of all Complex Electronic Hardware (CEH) activities (when required) in accordance with DO-254.
  • Representing the company’s Engineering organisation in dealings with our Suppliers and Customers, and working with the supplier to ensure the equipment is compliant with its specification requirements, is supportive of the rig test requirements for the Avionic System and is qualified to support development flight test and the release into service in line with project programme requirements.
  • To ensure all equipment changes are correctly configured and formal modifications progressed in accordance with project design control procedures.
  • Taking the lead on the Equipment Engineering programmes, developing junior members of the team and ensuring all equipment changes are correctly configured and formal modifications progressed in accordance with project design control procedures.

About You:

  • Degree in a STEM subject and demonstrated relevant engineering experience in Aviation or a related field
  • Experience working on requirements specification and development of airborne equipment.
  • Experience leading teams and developing engineering talent.
  • Experience working with suppliers and multiple stakeholders.
  • Must be suitable for clearance up to SECRET on UK national and UK involved multi-national programs

You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years
