Park Signalling combines technology design and consultancy with specialist knowledge and product development to enhance the service life of train control systems and equipment.
With a range of products and solutions for monitoring signalling assets, Park Signalling uses digital technologies to deliver performance improvements for heavy and light rail networks and signalling systems globally.


We are excited to be recruiting for a Senionr Firmware Engineer to help strengthen and grow the Engineering team in Stockport. As a Senior Firmware Design Engineer at Park Signalling, you will primarily be responsible for creating solutions that support our railway products and meet our high reliability and safety targets. Working across many areas of the systems lifecycle, the Senior Firmware Engineer will demonstrate capability in many new and exciting projects, leading the design, development, review and testing of Firmware for innovative signalling solutions.


Key responsibilities of the role include:


  • Take the lead in the production of high-quality firmware for embedded systems using the C language.

  • Write high-quality formware for embedded systems using the C language

  • Write unit-test software and other software to aupport development and testing

  • Define and lead the development of unit-test software and other software to support development and testing.

  • Create clear documents and UML-based diagrams.

  • Initiate and clarify ideas for the design of systems, software and firmware.

  • Lead in “code reviews” of their work and those of colleagues.

  • Where needed, participate in testing, hands-on.

  • Contribute to estimates of workload and the solutions to technical problems.

  • Communicate effectively, in speech and writing.

  • Build effective working relationships with the team and with other key stakeholders based on mutual trust and respect that ensure the resolution of problems locally.

  • Mentor and develop junior members of the team.

  • Help create a positive, enthusiastic, supportive working environment.


The successful candidate will be qualified to degree level in a relevant Electrical/Electronic/Computer Science related field. Candidates will have proven experience in a similar role and be able to talk through previous projects. You will have a broad grasp of the C language and awareness of object-oriented programming techniques.

Excellent communication, organational and problem solving skills are also essential in the role.In return we will work with you to develop a professional development plan in expanding your knowledge base and competency in toolsets that will support you in your role and future progression. This will also include an opportunity to train and inform other staff on your ability and areas of expertise to broaden the wider engineering knowledge base.
