This is working Sunday - Thursday from 7pm - 5am, Saturday and Sunday from 5am - 7pm and Friday and Saturday evening from 7pm - 5am

We also recognise everyone plays their part to provide amazing service.

On top of your salary you canearn up to £1,000 service charge per quarter (points based criteria for eligibility).

About the Role

Due to expansion within the gardens team, an exciting opportunity has opened up and we are seeking an experienced Senior Gardener at Rudding Park Hotel and Holiday Park. The team are very proud of the award-winning gardens and work hard to achieve high standards around the grounds. We would love to hear from like-minded individuals who would like the challenge involved to help us achieve this.

The gardens around the hotel and holiday park are a mixture of historic mature plantings of trees and shrubs with some rare and unusual Rhododendrons and Azaleas. There are also more modern plantings designed by Matthew Wilson surrounding the hotel and in the Roof Top Spa Garden. Alongside this we have a Kitchen Garden that is both ornamental and fully productive supplying the restaurants in the hotel. The role will be mostly based around the ornamental grounds surrounding the hotel, and demands a keen eye for detail and the desire to ensure the guest experience outside the hotel is as good as inside.

The successful applicant would be required to work in all areas around the estate. No two days are the same, one day could be cutting the lawns, the next could be cutting the Yew hedge on the Roof Top Spa Garden, and the next could be helping in the Kitchen Garden to crop the fruit and vegetables for the kitchens.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out and oversee work done by self and team members around the Hotel and Holiday Park.
• Ensure a safe working environment for team members, guests and the general public.
• Liaising with the head gardener on work plans and future work requirements.
• Ensuring a high level of guest service for guests by self and team members.
• Coaching and mentoring Trainee Gardeners and Apprentices ensuring on the job training corresponds with their course work
• Maintain records of plantings
• Leading on some projects as required
• Ensure high standards of workmanship in line with industry best practice
• Carry out any other reasonable duties that may be required by the head gardener and directors

About You

• A passion for plants and gardening.
• Good attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills with other team members and guests.
• Able to work independently and in a team.
• Highly motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and a 'can do attitude'.
• Minimum Level 2 in Horticulture or other relevant qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years work experience in a similar role, with experience of leading small teams.
• Experience and ideally competency certificates with machinery such as hand mowers, ride-on mowers, a range of turf machinery, hedge trimmers, strimmer's, chainsaws, tractors and similar machinery would be an advantage.
• PA1 and PA6 certificates desirable.
• Full, clean driving license essential.
