Senior Garment Technician

£48,000 to £52,000 based on qualification and experience
One to One Personnel is proud to be working with our wholesale global fashion brand client who is looking to hire a Senior Garment Technician based at their offices in Shoreditch, London.
To be considered for this role you must currently be working as a Senior Garment Technician in a fast paced busy fashion environment, with a minimum of 5 years outerwear and tailoring experience, 2-3 years to be based within the UK. CVs and portfolios will need to be submitted.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Fittings
- Set up product workbooks for in line and SMU’s with specifications from initial sketches
- Provide feedback to the Product Developers, Designers and Suppliers on sample specifications and make-up requirements. Suggest ways to improve overall look, finish and how to gain competitive costings
- Work with the technical team: Measuring and preparing samples ahead of fit sessions. Product Designer to support
- Conduct fit sessions: Take ownership of the fitting process and setting standards for more junior members of the team
- Send clear and concise fit/technical comments to suppliers systematically
- Liaise with the factories on patterns and construction queries
- Set up the basic blocks for key areas and send to the factories to ensure consistency of fit are maintained season to season. With the focus to reduce sampling in the long term
- Create a pattern library where required for best-selling blocks / cross-sourced products
- Make and/or amend patterns for the factories where required
- Attend customer fit meetings and liaise with their garment technologists on SMU orders
- Casting fit models and booking for sessions
- Improve on areas of weakness, including in-house training and development of the technical team
- Ensure all products are fit for purpose and meet the Company’s fit and quality standards
- Look into ways to introduce 3D fitting and sampling
Sizing
- Review current brand sizing conversion and suggest ways to improve if required
- Provide production grading to factories
Testing & Compliance
- Work with the wider technical team to ensure the following is covered for all products
- Update brand manuals for testing and compliance requirements. Working with the factories to ensure these are maintained
- Responsible for setting base and bulk testing requirements/ REACH standards
- Set up restricted substance list manual to ensure all factories are aware
- Ensure garments are fit for purpose e.g. Waterproof actually meets this functionality
- Check test reports and production AQLs
- Resolve quality issues with factories
- Advising wash care instructions
- Check factory audits and ensuring audits are up to date
Compliance & Supply Chain
- Factory/Supplier compliance: Audits, CAPs, development action plans
- Supplier and factory visits and inspections
- Supplier and factory on boarding: Risk assessment
- Transparency pledge: Online platform management. Open supply hub
- Keep up to date with industry transparency legislation
Sustainability
- Set up and instil company-wide green agenda for sustainability with regards to factories/ production/ new initiatives
- Work with the factories to help gain certification requirements
- Look into ways to reduce the number of fit samples so the business can operate in a more sustainable manner
Other
- Set up new systems and processes to better streamline the technical function of the business. Setting up required quality manuals where necessary
- Contribute to initiatives to reduce customer returns
- Build strong relationships with the factories, team and customers
- Review new sourcing opportunities based on previous experience
