Our client, a well-established multi-channel retailer offers its customers a wide range of quality lifestyle, fashion and homeware products.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to further their career within Garment Technology. The primary focus will be on Ladieswear and Menswear but there will be opportunity to gain exposure to other product areas such as Footwear, Textiles and Lifestyle. Our client is looking for someone who is passionate, self-motivated, has attention to detail and can use their own initiative.

Key responsibilities:

• Completing competitor fit and fabric reviews and making recommendations to the buyers.
• Working with the Buying Team to advise the best solutions to the fit and styling issues - ensuring that all garments meet costing criteria.
• Working to improve costing/construction where possible.
• Fitting of garments at first fit and sealing stages and providing detailed feedback to suppliers utilising K&L dummies for fitting. (we do not have live models available for fittings)
• Completing face to face fit sessions with suppliers’ technologists (This will require some travel within the UK)
• Ability to make commercial decisions without affecting garment quality.
• Responding to product queries.
• Analysing product returns and faults.
• Auditing of Bulk production and assessing commerciality of stock - the ability to analyse quality or performance and produce quality control reports.
• Auditing of first season deliveries and in-season stock.
• Management of Critical path/Sealing process and progress chasing.
• Management of QA Department staff / Garment Technologist consultants and liaising with senior management of business.
• Analysing returns reports for the company.
• Producing reports for each buyer/management each season.
• Updating QA information in the supplier manual.
• To drive initiatives to reduce company returns on and offline.
• To train on "In-house" systems - Returns, Technical data etc.

Key Requirements:

• Extensive experience in the industry.
• Degree in garment technology/fashion design or equivalent qualification.
• Menswear and Womenswear experience required across multiple categories/ranges/knitted and woven constructions.
• Experience working with UK and Far East suppliers and factories.
• Experience of factory visits UK/Far East and auditing.
• Fibre technology knowledge.
• Understanding of pattern cutting/manipulation with regards to correcting fit issues.
• Understanding of garment construction techniques & knowledge of manufacturing production and processes.
• Conversant with Industry safety/legislation and Performance standards - BS testing etc and packaging/labelling.
• Pattern grading and size specification drafting, ability to set up a block library and relevant product grading templates.
• Competent knowledge and experience using Excel, Word, and imaging programmes to provide written and visual feedback to suppliers - overcoming any language barriers.
