A great opportunity at a growing SME Consultancy who have a requirement for the position of Senior Geotechnical Engineer. This role is based in Telford.
Overview
Our client provide a wide range of geological and geotechnical services to the civil, mining and quarrying industries, with their experienced and skilled staff delivering practical and cost effective solutions to multi-national and independent operators and authorities throughout the world.
As an experienced Geotechnical Engineer your objective will be to provide high-quality geotechnical support to clients in the development of bespoke projects. You will have enthusiasm and expertise to develop and communicate concepts and innovative solutions for structural engineering and infrastructure.
The focus of this important and varied role is to provide leadership for the technical delivery of geotechnical design, supporting a variety of infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Undertake research and investigations to develop a clear understanding of the ground conditions at a project site
- Plan, specify and manage site investigations and laboratory testing programmes
- Collate and analyse field and laboratory data and undertake analyses related to the project design
- Undertake geotechnical design and prepare detailed geotechnical reports and supervise others
- Attend sites and project where required to assist with site inspections and surveys
- Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with the agreed budget and timescales
- Monitor the costs and programme of projects and provide information to ensure prompt invoicing of fees
Requirements
- BEng or MEng degree in Civil Engineering or a Geology related subject
- Chartered or working towards Chartership with the Geological Society or ICE
- Minium 6 years’ demonstrable industry relevant background in geotechnical design and construction and a good working knowledge of ground conditions in the United Kingdom
- Ability to anticipate and interpret ground conditions and to develop accurate ground models from site investigation and desk study information
- Significant experience of geotechnical analysis design of earthworks and structures for example, shallow and deep foundations, retaining walls and slopes
- Good verbal and written English
- Ability to produce work of a high standard with minimum supervision
- Ability to organise your own work and time management and supervise less experienced team members
- A full UK driving licence
