We are recruiting to an exciting opportunity for a Governance Solicitor to join this friendly, supportive North West Authority on a locum contract. This a locum position, offering flexibility around home-working and working hours.
Our client is looking for a qualified Solicitor, with local government experience. The successful interim Governance Solicitor will support on a range of governance matters across the Council.
Key Responsibilities of Senior Governance Lawyer:
- Delivery of consistent, high quality legal advice and, where appropriate, briefings and training to clients in relation to the law within the team's practice areas
- Development of associated policies, procedures and guidance
- Preparing reports to the Council, the Executive and committees
The successful Senior Governance Lawyer will demonstrate relevant experience of, and expertise in, dealing with a broad range of complex, high value and sensitive cases relating to local government/public administration law (including local authority constitutions and the operation of executive arrangements), information governance matters (including data protection, Freedom of Information and the Environmental Information Regulations) and elections law.
