Job description

We’re seeking top technical talent toexpand our global engineering team.

The Sr. Hardware Engineer develops and tests electronicsolutions for EV charging ECUs used within on-road heavy vehicle applicationsoffering a unique challenge in achieving optimal performance from complexdevices.

General Responsibilities

  • Leads thedevelopment of the design of equipment, processes and systems that may includedata networks, communications, and display.
  • Adviseson the analysis of equipment specifications and process requirements toconceive a practical design.
  • Determinesthe feasibility from technical and economic perspectives.
  • Presentsin consultation meetings with research engineers or scientists and customerrepresentatives to resolve design problems.
  • Leads theteam responsible for maintaining technical procedures, documentation andmanuals.
  • Compilesand analyzes operational data and directs tests to establish standard for newdesigns or modifications to existing equipment, systems, or processes.
  • Overseesthe work of technicians and technologists who provide technical support.

Experience / Qualifications

  • Auniversity degree required (i.e. Bachelors’ degree) or equivalent relevant workexperience
  • Must be ateam player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated abilityto handle multiple competing tasks and demands.

Additional Job Description

  • Developelectronic design solutions for charging applications of electrified, on-roadheavy vehicles in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Responsiblefor ensuring development in line with design specifications for automotiveelectronics, including electrical system specification, mechanical andenvironmental specification, EMI/EMC specification.
  • Make useof electronic engineering principles, circuit design, modelling andcharacterisation for design proposals.
  • Plan andexecute prototype builds, testing, validation & fault diagnosis.
  • Emphasison Continuous Improvement, Design to Cost and Design for Manufactureprinciples, achieving customer requirements and overcoming manufacturingchallenges.
  • Maintaining& releasing product documentation (schematics, specifications, DFMEA, testreports, etc.)
  • Review ofcustomer specifications, standards and other documentation, identifying andextracting information relevant to the implementation of products and projects.Co-ordination of this activity with other team members, as required.
  • Buildingcustomer relationships through discussion, technical presentations, designreviews, etc.
  • Gaintechnical expertise of Sensata products to advise internally and externally onrequirements and specifications.
  • Roleinvolves close liaison with sites internationally including Germany, theNetherlands, the United States, and India.
  • Opportunityto visit Customers, Suppliers & other Sensata R&D/Manufacturing sites,worldwide.

Essential Criteria

  • Expertisein electrical circuit design, guiding critical PCB layout elements, componentselection, design analysis, prototyping and testing for embedded systems.
  • Knowledgeand experience of Hardware Engineering processes and standards.
  • Knowledgeand experience with hardware analysis tools and failure analysis.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experiencewith wired communications standards, e.g. CAN, LIN, SPI, Ethernet, PLC.
  • Experiencein EV automotive system architecture and/or ECUs.
  • Experiencein functional safety and cybersecurity design.
  • Experiencein design of electronics for automotive environments/markets.
  • Experiencein testing of electronics in both bench testing and for EMC.
  • Excellentknowledge and experience with hardware analysis tools such as DFMEA, FTA, WorstCase Analysis.
  • Experienceworking in an Agile/Scrum team development environment.
  • Experiencedwith Altium Designer and Altium 365.
Please note that occasional travel will be required forequipment installation and support.
