Our scientists use the light to study a vast range of subject matter, ranging from new medicines and treatments for disease, to innovative materials and engineering applications for applications as diverse as next generation batteries and memory technology.Diamond is a true Big Data facility, generating multiple Petabytes of scientific data per-annum, across more than thirty experimental stations (beamlines), much of which requires fast feedback and near real time processing to guide experiments and data collection, as well as reading back multiple Terabytes of data to our compute clusters for further analysis.
