Purpose of the job

We are looking for someone to join the Strategy and Enabling team to lead and support on a number of projects that develop services, strategies, policies and procedures across the remit of the Strategic Growth team with a focus on housing, homelessness and domestic abuse

You will have the opportunity to work alongside partner organisations, undertake research work and to develop good working relationships with landlords all of which will help to develop our services, you will need to be able to confidently lead and drive forward projects and initiatives surrounding housing, homelessness, and domestic abuse projects

Day to day tasks are wide and varied but will include:

Working with the Housing Manager in delivering the enabling service with Registered Providers, Developers, Agents, Planning colleagues, Homes England and other relevant partners.

Be responsible for investigating formal complaints, MP letters, requests made under the Freedom of Information Act, SAR etc.

To ensure good relationships are maintained and liaise with landlords to address tenant complaints, issues or concerns when outside of our lease agreements and negotiate the best possible outcomes, and to the effective management of the Private Sector Leasing / social letting agency portfolio including the advertising, letting and management of the properties in line with agreed management policies and protocols to maximise income

To work with the team to produce monthly / quarterly/annual performance monitoring reports across the service areas, monitor M3 database and other appropriate databases to ensure all relevant property and electrical checks are undertaken within a timely manner.

You will undertake research, work and make recommendations to ensure implementation of new initiatives and good practise in policy and procedures.

Oversee and inspect properties to comply with all relevant laws and codes and support officers undertaking this work and work with legal services and landlords in developing, negotiating, and reviewing lease agreements

To help furnish, set up and undertake (or organise) minor repairs to any properties taken into our portfolio of private leased properties.

The role will involve managing IT software relevant to the job including Landlord Vision and Home Choice Plus and to generate necessary management reports from these systems and to monitor rent accounts and other payments in relation to temporary and other types of accommodation and support the collection of debts

You must be able to demonstrate a political awareness reflecting the responsibilities of this post.

The post holder will possess 5 GCSE's including English and Maths or equivalent and will ideally hold a HNC Qualification, or be educated to A Levels and degree standard or equivalent.

You will be self-motivated, a strategic thinker and have excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to communicate effectively with team members and the general public.

With excellent IT skills you will be IT literate to a high standard including use of email, spreadsheets and databases, social media, survey monkey etc.

 

This is a full time position with annual salary of £36269 to £38770 per annum

Appointment is usually at the bottom of the salary band with annual increments until the top of the scale is reached.

You may be required to provide a suitable vehicle in connection with the duties of this post.

Flexible approach to working hours, able to work outside normal office hours if necessary, including a requirement to be available for evening meetings.

This job includes duties that may require an element of physical effort and mobility on an occasional basis.

To meet the needs of the service, the ability to undertake the full range of duties for the contracted hours will be required. Need to be able to meet the physical demands of the job in accessing and inspecting properties in particular.

Appointment to this post is subject to satisfactory clearance of an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
