Job Title: Senior Humanitarian Policy Adviser
Job Location: Moorfields, London (Hybrid) Flexible
Salary: £46,000 to £52,000 based on 35 hours per week (plus London Weighting if applicable)
Contract Type: Permanent

Could you play a leading role in developing British Red Cross's international Humanitarian Policy with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent?
Can you work collaboratively with colleagues in different departments in the to ensure the development and implementation of policy agendas that inform the work of the Movement?
A day in the life of a Senior Humanitarian Policy Adviser will involve:
  • Lead on policy and technical advice across thematic work areas to support and strengthen the International Directorate strategy.
  • Lead on analysis, planning and implementation of action and work plans including working with regional teams and National Society partners.
  • Ensure the collection and analysis of evidence to demonstrate the effectiveness and impact of the International Directorate's work.
  • Collect, collate, analyse, assess and interpreting information from to make evidence-based recommendations.
  • Seek and build new relationships and partnerships within Red Cross Movement and other organisations to improve results and maximise impact.
  • Proactive collaboration with relevant teams across the BRC and with Movement partners to facilitate effective delivery of objectives.
  • Define quality standards and ensure compliance through the provision of timely and effective advice.
To be a successful Senior Humanitarian Policy Adviser, you'll need:
  • A higher level academic qualification (degree level or equivalent work experience)
  • Advanced knowledge of Humanitarian Policy within the international humanitarian or development system.
  • Advanced technical expertise within policy development and influencing
  • Demonstrable overseas field experience as a humanitarian practitioner
  • Advanced technical expertise within Humanitarian Policy
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Good project management skills
  • Advanced ability to analyse data and interpret information to communicate to and persuade decision makers.
  • Proven research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Extensive experience of providing Humanitarian Policy advice and support.
  • Proven track record of establishing relationships with senior decision-makers to influence and enable decision making.
  • Experience of undertaking Humanitarian Policy development within a relevant role, sector, project or programme.
