About the Department:
The Access, Participation and Student Success (APSS) department is based in the Student and Academic Services Directorate alongside Academic Services, Registry, Careers, Student Advice and Wellbeing, and Student Experience, Engagement and Retention.
APSS is responsible for delivering, monitoring and reviewing initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for students from backgrounds underrepresented in higher education, and takes the lead in activities delivered under the School’s Access & Participation Plans. The team works across the student life-cycle, partnering with a range of external partners, including schools, and internally with academic departments and professional services, to create and deliver a varied programme of activities.
About the Role
The Senior Impact and Evaluation Officer is a key role in the Access, Participation and Student Success department which forms part of SOAS’ Student and Academic Services Directorate. The purpose of the role is to evaluate the Impact and educational gain of interventions, projects and action plans, drawing on a range of academic and student outcomes. The role will support widening access and student success activities and is linked directly to the University’s Access and Participation Plan (APP).
About you:
You will need to demonstrate:
- Knowledge of issues around widening access/student success and participation in higher education.
- Experience of working in an analytical role.
- Experience of manipulating and presenting data in a way that is accessible to a range of stakeholders.
- Commitment to, and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in education.
- Ability to work under pressure individually or as part of a team to meet tight timescales and ambitious targets.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret, evaluate and present data and information.
- Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with staff at all levels.
