AddressWe are currently seeking a Senior Import Operator (Seafreight) to join our dynamic team in Manchester, UK.
As an Import Operator, you will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating import operations, ensuring efficient and timely delivery of goods via seafreight.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with customers, providing exceptional customer service and addressing inquiries and concerns related to import operations.
- Negotiate competitive freight rates with shipping lines and other service providers, maximizing cost efficiency.
- Prepare accurate and detailed quotes for customers, considering various factors such as shipping requirements, destination, and cargo specifications.
- Book and coordinate shipments, collaborating with carriers, freight forwarders, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth transportation processes.
- Proactively identify and resolve potential issues and challenges that may arise during import operations, employing problem-solving skills to minimize disruptions.
- Generate and manage invoices for completed jobs, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial procedures.
- Enter and track costs associated with import operations, maintaining meticulous records and effectively managing financial data.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within the seafreight industry.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with customers, service providers, and internal teams.
- Proven ability to negotiate freight rates and terms to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities to handle multiple shipments and tasks simultaneously.
- A proactive and detail-oriented approach to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Proficiency in relevant computer systems and software applications used in import operations.
- Familiarity with invoicing procedures and financial record-keeping.
- Knowledge of customs regulations and import documentation processes is desirable.
Salary
£45,000 plus
