SalaryNigel Wright Supply Chain and Procurement Team are delighted to be supporting a high volume North East Manufacturer in their search for a Senior Indirect Buyer to join their Purchasing Team.
The role will be 100% on site based with flexible start/finish times.
The Opportunity
The main responsibilities for the role are as follows:
- Procurement of all indirect spend, specifically MRO and engineering components - adopting a hands-on approach
- Building excellent working relationships with internal stakeholders, specifically Maintenance, Engineering and Stores Teams
- Spend analysis and new supplier sourcing
- Supplier performance management
- Focusing upon supplier rationalisation/spend consolidation opportunities
- Identifying and implementing process improvements
- Identifying and mitigating business risk with the Supply Chain
- Preparing tenders
- Negotiating and drafting contracts
About You
The successful Senior Buyer will have/ be:
- Strong purchasing knowledge, ideally from within engineering/manufacturing sector with experience of purchasing MRO/engineering components
- Hands on approach - happy to be involved in operational buying plus end to end tender management
- Ability to build excellent stakeholder relationships
- Proven track record in identifying and implementing process improvements
- Strong team player
- Able to deliver under pressure and to prioritise tasks effectively
- Able to read technical drawings
