Senior Infrastructure Engineer

We are working with a organisation in the defence technology solutions sector who are looking to recruit a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join them based of their state-of-the-art facilities in Maidenhead. This is an office based role with 1 day blended in home working. Candidates must be willing and able to gain and maintain security clearance up to DV level. 

The Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer helps with the overall responsibility of the day-to-day provision, management, and support of the local IT infrastructure, ensuring all staff has adequate IT provision to meet their needs, maintaining excellent service levels through effective prioritisation and organisation. This will include running daily routine procedures, resolving functional and/or technical issues and assist in the development of current processes to improve standards and reduce costs. The role will report to and work closely with the IT Service Delivery Manager in aligning site priorities for implementation of the global IT strategy, advising on local security, compliance, or regulatory requirements along with any local challenges as identified.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers. SC/DV.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing daily IT support requests and issues, ensuring excellent customer service across the support team.
  

• Monitoring, maintaining, and upgrading core infrastructure including servers, networks, systems as identified and in-line with compliance and certification requirements. NIST, ISO27001, Cyber Essentials Plus etc.
  

• Diagnosing and resolving technical faults and problems.
  

• Delivering projects to improve IT services and systems.
  

• Ensuring robust IT security, data protection and compliance.
  

• Ensure Backup, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plans are up to date, along with an annual "live" testing of the processes.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

• Proven experience managing and developing IT support services.
  
• Knowledge of ITIL frameworks and service management methodologies.
  
• Office 365, Azure, Windows Server.
  
• Virtualisation (VMware - Hyper-V)
  
• SAN technologies
  
• Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016-2022
  
• M365 / Microsoft Exchange, Intune, Autopilot, SCCM.
  
• Networking - TCP/IP, VLANs, switching, routing, firewalls.
  
• Bachelor's degree in information technology, Information Systems, Business, etc. or equivalent experience.
