HM Treasury implements financial sanctions in the UK, and Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) fulfils this role on its behalf. We lead on the implementation of UN and UK financial sanctions and domestic terrorist asset freezing, providing a high-quality service to the industry and guidance to help them follow the law. OFSI works closely with law enforcement, intelligence agencies and policy colleagues across Whitehall and beyond to help ensure that financial sanctions are accurately understood, implemented and enforced.

About the role

We are looking for someone to join us and play a leading role in HM Treasury's international Engagement work.

OFSI’s International Engagement branch promotes the importance of robust financial sanctions implementation on the world stage, both autonomously and by supporting other OFSI staff to engage with allies and partners effectively.

Key accountabilities

Whilst the exact breakdown of responsibilities will vary depending on the successful candidate, key accountabilities will include:

  1. Lead on OFSI’s international engagement with specific jurisdictions (to be agreed with the Head of International Engagement branch) in line with the International Engagement Strategy, to help embed relationships, share experiences and standard process. This also includes leading on relevant briefing to senior civil servants and leading on associated inward and outward visits.
  2. Support the Head of the International Engagement branch and the team with ensuring OFSI and the UK are represented effectively in relevant bilateral and multilateral international meetings to help improve robust financial sanctions implementation abroad; promote OFSI’s leadership role on the world stage; capture standard process for the team and learn from partners’ operational policy and practices.
  3. Drive forward a programme of work to facilitate staff across OFSI to engage with international partners effectively to help handle legal, policy and reputational risk to OFSI, HMT and the UK.
  4.
