Job description

This post sits within Student Services which provides a wide range of support to the student body. The Immigration Advice and Compliance Team are part of Frontline Services and provide information advice and guidance to our International Students who require a visa to study at the University and ensure that students and staff are aware of their compliance obligations under the UKVI rules. We are seeking a Senior International Student Engagement Adviser to join our busy Immigration Advice & Compliance Team in this new role.  The post holder will lead the work to track the engagement of our International Students with their studies in order to reach out to students whose engagement is of concern to help them re-engage and succeed on their courses though identifying concerns and issues and in linking students to appropriate support where needed. The post holder will also need to have excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders within BU and excellent organisational and analysis skills to ensure that data is maintained and analysed and interventions are recorded, monitored and with impact being measured whilst also ensuring that the University is meeting its reporting obligations to the UKVI.  The successful candidate will have the ability to analyse, interpret and understand data to inform the work to be carried out to address Student Engagement. They will also be expected to develop and maintain a high level of knowledge on the current student immigration legislation. The role is offered as a full-time post working 37 hours per week. This post is primarily located at our Talbot Campus however the postholder may also be required to work at our Lansdowne Campus on occasions to support business needs. Occasional weekend and/or evening working may be required to support critical business activities at key points in the year.
