The Senior IT Application Specialist Role:
We're on the search for a Senior IT Application Specialist to join our Tech team and become the driving force behind our application portfolio. In this role, you'll bring expert second-line capabilities to the table, covering everything from provision and management to administration, support, monitoring, and enhancement.
In this dynamic position, you'll be responsible for an array of application technologies, including ERP, core financials, WMS, CRM, integrations solutions, eCom, MFP, MM, and manufacturing solutions. Your mission is clear: ensure these applications not only meet but exceed industry best practices and business requirements, delivering top-tier performance, capacity, reliability, resilience, security, maintainability, and recoverability.
Reporting directly to our IT Operations Manager, you'll lead a team of skilled application specialists, driving them to respond swiftly to support incidents, tackle problems, fulfil requests, and supercharge enhancements, all within the agreed SLAs.
What your day-to-day might look like:
+ Taking charge of 2nd line application support, ensuring timely issue resolution in alignment with SLAs, collaborating with internal and external support teams
+ Managing on-premise and cloud-based applications
+ Providing guidance and coaching to 1st line Service Desk staff and super users
+ Developing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure consistent service levels
+ Participating in after-hours support rotation as needed
+ Creating and updating technical support documentation and Service Catalogue entries
+ Accurately recording user interactions and troubleshooting steps in the ticketing system
+ Collaborating with IT and business teams to share knowledge, insights, and solutions
+ Maintaining an accurate inventory of software licences and peripherals to support procurement and asset management processes
+ Establishing and maintaining change control procedures following ITIL best practices
+ Ensuring the security of all applications, aligning with industry and vendor best practices
+ Working with IT and business teams to achieve and maintain security certifications
+ Planning, managing, and executing application upgrade and enhancement projects to meet our business requirements.
About you:
+ Approximately 5+ years of demonstrated experience managing core business applications and a 2nd line support team in small to medium enterprises, ideally serving 200-500 users
+ Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience in a relevant technical field
+ Proven experience in acquiring and maintaining technical certifications across various application architectures and technologies (e.g., Togaf, CompTIA, BCS, Microsoft, AWS, Google, SQL DBA)
+ ITIL Foundation and relevant practitioner certifications, or equivalent experience in structured support environments
+ Experience in obtaining and upholding Cyber Essentials and/or ISO 27001 certifications
+ Proficiency in ITIL-centric environments
+ Familiarity with working alongside third-party software development teams using Agile methodology
+ Project management experience in line with Prince2 standards
+ Strong stakeholder management skills, including executive-level interactions
+ Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities
+ In-depth knowledge of application architecture and technologies, including Sage, Netsuite, RF Smart WMS, Magento, MFP, PLM, line-of-business applications, and common desktop/SAAS software
+ Capability to conduct research on new technology, issues, and products as needed
+ Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
+ Experience in asset and stock management
