Interim IT Category Manager

Our client is looking to recruit an interim IT Category Manager to support and work with Head of Category and business stakeholders to develop and implement fit for purpose category, subcategory strategies, Supplier Relationship Management and sourcing plans across the Group, establishing cost effective supply arrangements. You will have extensive technical knowledge in IT, lead on IT procurement projects and provide support and expertise for business led procurement activity. Key to this role will be building strong and effective relationships to deliver a pipeline of projects in support of the business wide Change and Transformation Programme.
Key responsibilities of the IT Category Manager:
  • Iinstigate and evolve a Category Strategy for IT providing analysis of purchasing and supply data to inform future planning and supply chain requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiencies and cost savings, along with identifying any risks to category plans, reporting findings and recommendations to key stakeholders including the Head of Category to support decision making and future planning.
  • Take ownership of forward tender plan, contracts register to identify a pipeline of renewals and opportunities to re-tender with sufficient time to influence spend and supplier selection including forecasted savings.
  • Take the lead (in the Specialist category) on strategic supplier relationship management including roll out of SRM module, contract management guidance and toolkit, ensuring contract managers are fully aware and trained
  • Form strategic partnerships with key suppliers, sharing technology roadmaps to maximise contractual performance.
  • Oversee the delivery of a contract assurance programme to ensure robust contract management processes and controls for key contracts.
  • Line management and development of Procurement Officer(s) providing expertise and coaching as required, ensuring a quality service is provided and under performance is dealt with appropriately
  • Support and enable the delivery of mobilisation plans from a procurement perspective to enable effective contract management including contract performance monitoring.
  • Develop, implement and oversee effective contract formation using Group standard contracts, ensuring incorporation of standard terms and conditions and development of bespoke Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support effective contract performance monitoring.
Key requirements for the IT Category Manager:
  • Procurement experience with responsibility for delivery of procurement benefits, including financial savings.
  • In-depth knowledge of IT procurement, including software, hardware and IT related services, including but not limited to the following areas: CRM; ERP; telephony; data integration; asset management systems; cloud based technology; P2P; hardware refreshes etc.
  • Experience of category management, procurement legislation
  • Extensive experience of delivering cost savings and efficiencies through procurement and supply chain activity.
  • Proven ability to identify cost saving opportunities through well-developed spend analysis and category management skills.
  • Experience of data analysis, benchmarking and identifying trends.
  • In-depth understanding of the procurement lifecycle and multiple sourcing strategies.
  • Experience of utilising successful contract management techniques and SRM, including contract performance monitoring, developing Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators
  • Understanding of commercial risk management.
  • Effective stakeholder and supplier management, both internally and external to the organisation, including the ability to successfully persuade and influence others.
  • Customer focused with excellent written, analytical and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work at all levels within the business.
  • Commercially aware with the focus on continuous improvement and the ability to drive change
