As part of Counter Fraud Compliance and Debt Directorate (CFCD) you will be at the heart of DWP’s front line operations, helping to change people lives and supporting the CFCD purpose of fighting fraud in the welfare system.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the virtual CFCD Universal Credit Team. This dynamic, national team undertakes diverse activities at pace to deliver continuous improvement to the fraud and error claimant journey whilst supporting CFCD operational colleagues and test new responses to mitigate risk in UC. This is a high profile, challenging role, working collaboratively with a wide range of Cross-Directorate stakeholders, often on politically sensitive issues.

The work is fast paced and interesting and gives the Job Holder an opportunity to lead, influence and participate in working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders across DWP.

This is a National Team and occasional travel for meetings will be required, including possible overnight stays in UK locations.

The job holder will play a key role in supporting CFCD’s approach to delivering change through leading its CFCD Universal Credit Service Innovation Lead (SIL) and technical support functions.  They will demonstrate an ability to build strong relationships quickly, primarily with stakeholders, and the ability to adapt to a new area of work to deliver results at pace.

Strong leadership and communication skills and a proven ability to influence across a range of stakeholders, specific tasks being:

• Proactively lead and engage colleagues across the geographically dispersed CFCD UC Support team, including line management responsibility.
• Lead your team to build UC Capability within CFCD (e.g. delivering virtual training, testing processes before delivering into business-as-usual etc.) promoting a self-serving learning and coaching culture.
• Rapidly develop and maintain strong working relationships in CFCD, Cross-Directorate colleagues and senior stakeholders to support Departmental response to counter Fraud, Error and Debt priorities.
• Seek and respond positively to feedback, working flexibly at pace to meet changing team and Departmental priorities whilst managing a diverse workload.
• Lead on embedding UC strategies into CFCD, through understanding the cultural change required, and influencing and supporting CFCD colleagues.
• Take personal ownership for leading on politically sensitive, diverse, complex projects, working with Cross-Departmental stakeholders throughout to develop tactical and strategic solutions.
