Senior Legal CounselCommercial Contracts

Location : Edinburgh, UK

Salary : £60,000 – £90,480

Salary: A competitive salary from £60,000 – £90,480, depending on the experience you can bring

Are you an experienced Senior Legal contracts specialist? We need your expertise to guide our business decisions. As part of our team, you’ll provide crucial legal advice, including in high-value and strategic matters. Your role will involve assisting and managing more junior team members.

Key responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive legal guidance to all levels within the Group, including executives, addressing commercial contract matters and strategic priorities. Approach challenges with a focus on risk awareness, pragmatic solutions, and commercial viability to minimise reliance on external Legal Counsel and deliver on time.
Operate with a high level of autonomy to offer legal advice on commercial contracting matters and strategic priorities, emphasising high-value work and initiatives crucial to the Group’s business objectives. Collaborate with various business units to ensure alignment.
Independently contribute to key strategic projects, which may involve restructurings and other corporate activities, playing a pivotal role in helping the Group achieve its business goals.
Take on line manager responsibilities for a sub-team, fostering individual and team growth. Conduct regular discussions on performance, well-being, and development goals. Provide coaching to enhance capabilities, ensuring the team is equipped to meet agreed objectives.
Cultivate robust relationships with senior management and executives to facilitate effective collaboration and understanding of legal and technical considerations across the organisation.

We’d love to hear from you if you have:  

Strong communication skills, enabling effective interaction with individuals across all levels of the business, including executives and senior management, as well as external stakeholders.
Proficiency in conducting contract drafting and negotiation, particularly in respect of information technology contracts and outsourcings.
A good understanding of data privacy in a Commercial Contracts context.
The ability to provide expert advice by analysing complex situations and, considering multiple sources of information.
Autonomy in handling high-value, strategic matters, coupled with excellent planning and prioritisation skills.
Efficient and effective coordination of external legal advice when required.
A proven track record of helping to make sound business decisions alongside legal judgments.

Qualifications: 

Qualified as a solicitor or advocate/barrister in one or both of Scotland and England.
