Corporate Risk and Broking

The Role
To provide technical support to client and broking teams to ensure contact certainty. Review, improve and amend wordings. Develop best practice wordings and clauses.
Principal Responsibilities:
  • Review and provide commentary on contract wordings 
  • Recommendation amendments and improvements to contract wordings
  • Review carrier produced documentation
  • Resolve contract wordings queries from Clients, Client Teams, Brokers
  • Provide technical advice to sales/client team and network on Wordings related matters
  • Provide comparisons between differing wordings
  • Analyse / imagine claims scenarios to stress test wordings
  • Draft contract Wordings and Endorsement, where required
  • Assist with the negotiation of contract wordings with insurers
  • Attend client team, client and Insurer meetings where required
  • Draft and/or present training material (as and where required)
  • Review of Market Reform Contracts (Slip/MRCs), as required
  • Monitor and prioritise own work using tracking systems
  • Maintain electronic wordings files, ensuring the appropriate file retention policy for UK Liability business is adhered to
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with stakeholders 
  • Liaise with Corporate Departments to oversee/maintain Market Reform Contract templates to ensure they meet the current needs of the GB Retail Liability business unit. Keep the business unit apprised of all updates (if required)
  • Represent the GB Retail Wordings Team on internal and external committees where required
  • Wordings-related ad hoc tasks, as required.

The Requirements 
Key professional/technical knowledge and skills (Qualifications where applicable):
  • Good understanding of insurance and insurance contract law
  • In-depth understanding of the base wordings and standard clauses of one specialist class (Liability – UK and International)
  • Knowledge of other classes of insurance contract wordings would be ideal (Motor, Group Personal Accident and Travel (as and when required))
  • In-depth understanding of the risks associated with one specialist class of insurance (Liability)
  • Good understanding of global/multinational placements
  • Excellent understanding of MRC/slip construction and content
  • Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)
  • Ability to turn insurance coverage requirements into clear, unambiguous and accurate written wording/policy documentation
  • Understanding of recent market developments in contract wordings
  • Good IT skills (word essential, PowerPoint and excel ideal)
