The Role

We have a new opportunity for a Senior Librarian in NHS Lanarkshire to work within our Evidence team. This post will focus on the management of the NHSL Guidelines App. The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in relevant topic and/or postgraduate degree/diploma in Library and Information Science or Information Technology and an experience of working with Apps and other online systems

This post is ideal for an enthusiastic and experienced individual with a history in managing staff in a health care setting or equivalent.

The post holder will have a wide knowledge of IT, database management, health databases and the internet. They will have excellent organisational skills including effective work planning for self and others and effective compliance with all organisational processes such as finance and audit. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

What we'll need you to bring


  • Educated to degree level preferably in librarianship/information science/ Information technology and or data control though other equivalents would be considered (if applicants can demonstrate applicability to the role)
  • Significant post qualification experience working at a professional level preferably within the Health Sciences
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IT, database management, health databases and the internet
  • Knowledge of current legislation on copyright, freedom of information, intellectual property, data protection and other relevant legislation
  • An understanding of the NHS in Scotland, how it is structured and organised, the current key policy context and drivers and organisational constraints.
  • Project management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of working with national projects, services and/or collaborative networks
  • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of working effectively on own, leading a team and as part of a team.


It would be great if you also have


  • Knowledge of current legislation on copyright, freedom of information, intellectual property, data protection and other relevant legislation
  • An understanding of the NHS in Scotland, how it is structured and organised, the current key policy context and drivers and organisational constraints.
  • Experience of Quris systems
  • Experience of working with national projects, services and/or collaborative networks
  • Experience of managing projects
  • Car owner/driver

This role will be based in Evidence Department within University Hospital Hairmyres..

The working pattern for this role will be Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm.
