Job Description Summary
Caterpillar Skinningrove Limited (CSL) has been in operation since 1998, producing steel track shoes for 'Cat track' found on Hydraulic Excavators, Track Type Loaders and Track Type Tractors. CSL joins 8 other global facilities within Wear Components, part of our Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD).
As the Senior Manager, Manufacturing Operations for the Caterpillar Skinningrove facility, you will serve as the Facility Manager and are responsible for all elements of the manufacturing organization with safety, quality and compliance as top priorities.
Role Definition
Oversees and directs daily plant operations including production and manufacturing, maintenance, engineering support, safety, regulatory compliance, distribution and warehousing. Manages a facility comprised of of c. 80 workers, including production, support/management and agency.
What You Will Do:
Overseeing programs and practices for hiring, performance management and developing/training the personnel that perform and support the facility operating functions.
- Directing all aspects of Manufacturing Operations for the facility in order to produce cost-effective, timely and high quality products in a safe, secure and sanitary working environment.
- Managing development, implementation and continual improvement of the operating methods, equipment, systems and other operating infrastructure used to realize operating goals and objectives.
- Directing development of production work schedules to meet internal goals and customer expectations; monitoring process and personnel performance of scheduled work activities to remove operating impediments and achieve established operating goals.
- Ensures the compliance of all regulatory guidelines and forges a safe and sound manufacturing environment.
What You Have:
- Budgeting: Knowledge of organization's budget process; ability to apply policies and practices for planning and administering a budget.
- Quality Management: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization.
- Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
- Performance Management : Knowledge of successful performance management techniques; ability to apply organization's performance management system, practices, and tools to developing and improving individual, team, and organizational performance. Champions a climate that supports and rewards excellent group and individual performance.
- Lean Operations/CPS/Six Sigma : Knowledge and understanding of Lean principles and Six Sigma methodology to continuously improve the business.
- Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site.
- Manufacturing Standards, Procedures and Policies : Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance.
- Team culture: Extensive experience in creating a positive work environment that emphasizes employee experience.
Skills Required:
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in engineering or similar
- Proven progressive responsibility in manufacturing, including experience in formal Manufacturing Operations leadership.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Quality Systems
- Effective and proven Change Management skills
- Excellent communicator across all levels of the organization, to direct and motivate people to ensure divisional goals are met.
- Problem solving, analytical and decision making skills
