My client- a Leading Energy firm is currently seeking a qualified and experienced individual to fill the position of Senior Market Risk Analyst in the energy sector. In this role, you will actively engage with the trading and optimisation function to ensure the maintenance of robust controls and the optimisation of revenues from asset-backed trading activities, encompassing renewables, thermal power stations, and gas storage. Your key responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive risk exposure analyses, guiding trading strategies, and making well-informed decisions to capitalise on opportunities or mitigate risks.

As a pivotal member of the team, you will take ownership of project delivery, focusing on the successful implementation of effective controls and continuous improvement programs. Your proficiency in handling substantial datasets and innovatively crafting solutions will be pivotal in adapting to evolving business needs. Collaboration and cross-functional challenges are integral aspects of this role, ensuring the optimization of processes across the organization. In your capacity as a senior team member, you will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of innovation, actively contributing ideas and translating them into successful initiatives.

• I am looking for candidates with strong problem-solving skills, proficiency in mathematical modeling, and a deep understanding of European wholesale energy markets.
• Familiarity with industry tools such as Lacima Analytics, ZEMA, Power BI, and Python (or equivalent) is highly advantageous. Professional qualifications such as FRM or ERP from the Global Association of Risk Professionals (or equivalent) will enhance your candidacy.
• Your strategic awareness of the energy industry, analytical thinking, and ability to effectively communicate complex information at various levels will be pivotal.
• Previous experience in a Modeling or Quantitative Analyst role within a commercial industry setting is essential.
