Job description

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established portfolio, with lots of opportunities for attracting visitors to three contrasting sites.

Your tone of voice is the first experience that most of our visitors have when visiting us so we're looking for a good communicator to attract new audiences and encourage repeat visits. A creative individual who can juggle conflicting priorities, meet deadlines and enjoy working within a team face to face and remotely. You'll be required to travel between between properties and to other locations for local and regional meetings.

There maybe weekend and evening work to support events, where time will be given back in lieu of hours worked.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, you'll work across the portfolio, visiting each property (Gunby Hall, Tattershall Castle and The Workhouse & Infirmary) at least weekly.

We have three pay for entry sites, attracting over 120,000 visitors per year which offer a diverse range of experiences for our visitors. Gunby Hall is a traditional small stately house with a quintessential English country garden, Tattershall Castle hosts centuries of history and engages families throughout the year. The Workhouse & Infirmary is a property, unlike no other within National Trust, specialising in social history and in some cases, history within living memory.

In a highly competitive market you'll be responsible for promoting the National Trust in South Nottinghamshire and North Lincolnshire through maintaining a vibrant and engaging website to encourage visits. Via social media platforms you'll creatively promote the changing programme of activities and the exhibition to encourage first time and repeat visits. You'll work closely with various tourism organisations, as well as National Trust regional consultants and visitor experience teams, and will be the first point of contact for any crises communications.

You'll be a senior leader in the portfolio and you'll be part of the Leadership Team, steering the strategic direction for marketing and communications and delivering the business plan.

To deliver this role successfully, you'll need;

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills: good relationship building and networking abilities to work with external partners and stakeholders
  • Ability to develop creative and engaging communication media
  • Good understanding of how to build an engaging webpage
  • Experience in social media management: to build, manage and evaluate social media presence, campaigns and metrics
  • Strong attention to detail: to ensure accuracy of information and consistency across all communication materials
  • Flexibility, meaning a willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure
