Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with the UK s leading supplier to the nuclear industry and a growing global force.
The roles have a hybrid working arrangement and can be based out of the following location:
Bristol
Warrington
The role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you ll have a role that s out of the ordinary. From decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, through supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, to supporting the operation and build of nuclear power plants.
The skilled team tackles major defence, decommissioning, new build and nuclear generation projects.
Key Duties:
- Promote effective co-operation across Engineering and other functional teams
- Assist in effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers, to aid the development of business, resolution of technical and delivery issues, and such that the customer is fully briefed and informed of progress
- Ensure procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities
- Contribute to Project Safety Assessment process
- Produce, review and approve calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation and technical reports as assigned
- Maintaining the engineering configuration, ensuring the overall design intent and integrity is maintained throughout design lifecycle
- Provide support to the Project Manager for the planning, control and delivery of task and projects
- Make engineering decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority
- Act as Technical Authority or Engineering Lead when authorised to do so.
- Ensure application of highest standards for health and safety in immediate area of responsibility and ensure all team members across engineering co-operate with respect to company standards about matters on health, safety and environment, ethics and behaviours.
Essential experience of the Senior Mechanical Engineer:
- Nuclear experience is not a necessity, we welcome applications from all engineering backgrounds
- You are someone who owns and delivers, who champions high performance and is courageous to challenge the status quo
- Knowledge of CAD tools and General Engineering Drawing Practice
- Ability to build strong and influential relationships with key stakeholders
- Experience of leading a team
Qualifications for the Senior Mechanical Engineer:
- Minimum HNC/HND in Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Holds or has the ability to obtain Chartered status.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
