Senior Mechanical Engineer

Full-time permanent

Hull

Monday to Friday 7:30am - 4pm

The Senior Mechanical Engineer role will play a key part in the technology deployment of the company assets as well as brown and greenfield site development to ensure utilities and infrastructure are available. Applying all relevant Mechanical Engineering standards, producing all relevant documentation, to enable the unit and infrastructure to be built and optimised, and installed on client sites.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Definition and approval of mechanical aspects of the design and construction for infrastructure and services
  • Participate in feasibility studies of client sites including initial concept and system design.
  • Manage the interface between the mechanical team and other disciplines.
  • Manage the activities of third parties including Design Houses and EPCs involved in project delivery.
  • Design of Pressure Vessels, piping and components.
  • Producing design calculations, materials selections, drawings, Bill of Materials, and equipment specifications in line with the applicable codes and standards.
  • Approval of mechanical calculations and drawings.
  • Mechanical sign off any design changes and implemented changes within the field as part of a management of change process.
  • Support the development of the technical files, covering the design, supply, assembly and test requirements for certified pieces of equipment.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with fabricators and vendors, including carrying out vendor audits.
  • Integrate with suppliers to source materials that meet design, cost and timescale requirements.
  • Support the development of company process engineering design standards and best practice.

Person Specification

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartership in Engineering desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years' relevant industry experience, ideally in petrochemical or similar.
  • Significant previous experience of working as a Mechanical Engineer.
  • Experience in interpreting and revising P&IDs.
  • Familiar with design and specification of equipment in accordance with typical design codes and governing legislation.
  • Previous experience of using 3D modelling and design software, ideally with AutoCAD.
  • Experience and understanding of working with design house/EPC.
  • Experience in solids handling systems, high temperature materials, fabrication, Finite Element Analysis, design validation, new product design.
  • Experience in Manufacturability & Constructability Reviews beneficial.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally within multidisciplinary teams.
