Senior Mechanical Engineer

£51,000 per annum

Wrexham

Days Only (Mon - Fri)

gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Lead Mechanical Technician / Engineer to work at their facility based near Wrexham

Performance Objectives

  • Work closely with the Engineering Manager to deliver on the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of the department.
  • Take a proactive approach in day to day activities and interact with various internal and external stakeholders, where required.
  • Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement activities within the department.
  • Provide support to the Engineering Team Manager during busy periods.
  • Review daily planned activity with the Engineering Team Manager to maximise labour utilisation and machine downtime opportunities.
  • Provide support (and sometimes lead) in daily departmental issues that are escalated.
  • Take the lead and review with the team, Machine condition/performance, identify opportunities for improvement and ensure team members take accountability and ownership of any assigned actions and work towards a suitable resolution. Example -resolution of high lock to lock times, repeat parts failure and SMED.
  • Provide Technical Support to all machine breakdowns and changeovers.
  • Complete reactive /corrective actions returning equipment to standard output, quality and waste levels following fault diagnosis.
  • Sourcing parts and materials from suppliers and arranging parts through technical administration.
  • Conduct continuous machine observation and measurement, identifying potential failure or deterioration in output, waste or quality performance from standard.
  • Determine cause of potential failure or performance deterioration, and complete remedial work briefing Engineering Team on issue, cause and recommended solution.

Person Specification

  • ONC / HNC / C&G Level 3 or equivalent Engineering qualification.
  • Practical, hands-on problem solver
  • Flexible and self-motivated with the ability to work independently,
  • Prioritise work and meet deliverables which are time bound.
  • Experience in condition monitoring disciplines - thermal imaging, vibration monitoring and oil analysis.
  • Good IT skills.
  • TPM / 6S / Continuous Improvement / Lean experience.
  • SAP PM Experience, or other CMMS system.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced / FMCG environment is preferable but not required.
