Job description

Our client, a leading London university, is currently looking to recruit a full time (35 hours per week), Events Officer on a 6-month fixed term contract.

The Events Officer will provide effective support to the Events Manager, to implement the university’s events programme, including organising Open Evenings, Graduations, public and inaugural lectures, and other high-profile College events. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain exposure and experience within Events and Higher Education. The role also offers Hybrid working, minimum of 3 days per week onsite, greater flexibility of working onsite will be needed for attending events, which could be in the early evenings, and occasionally weekends, time off would be given in lieu of this.

This is an exciting and varied position, well suited for someone who is looking to either step into the Events field or build upon previous experience. You will support the Events Manager to organise and run virtual and in-person events, help with the logistics and operations in advance of events and act as the main contact by telephone, email and mail responding to enquiries from staff, guests and attendees. You will also promote and attend events, be on hand to assist as required and collate all statistics from events to update the annual report.

To be considered for this role we are seeking candidates who have previous experience in a fast-paced admin/support role, and are used to managing and prioritising a varied workload, whilst working well under pressure. Strong customer service and communication skills are essential alongside having a keen eye for detail and good organisational abilities. Previous events experience would be advantageous, although not essential as consideration will be given from other roles with transferable experience e.g. marking/comms.

Some weekends and evening work will be required, so flexibility will be needed for this role (TOIL will be offered for these occasions).

The post is looking to start as soon as possible, so you will need to be available immediately or at short notice to be considered.
