In the last 12 months, Insolvency Service have supported over 120,000 people in financial difficulty through our bankruptcy, debt relief order and breathing space services. Working within Change and Technology Services, the Digital Services Team maintain, enhance and support a line of business applications that form the backbone of the Insolvency Service’s digital offering. Job description
Working within the Digital Services Team, you will be one of our senior developers, bringing experience and expertise to the team.
As a senior developer, you will work alongside our technical leads, other developers, architects and development team, to enhance, support and develop our line of business applications.
You will be working on a number of different applications, aimed at making our digital offer more accessible and easier to use for those that find themselves in financial distress.

What You’ll Do

• Be a senior member of the agile development teams, acting as a mentor and coach to less experienced developers.
• To be involved in identifying appropriate technology and approaches, deciding when software should be written
• Contribute to the developer community
• Promote a culture of knowledge sharing and the adoption of good practice

Skills & Experience

• You will be a subject matter expert in .NET
• Experience of mentoring, coaching or leading other developers (at work or in meetups etc) or a strong demonstration of potential in this area.
• Experience of working with modern tools and techniques
• An understanding of common security issues and how to mitigate them
• You will also want to make a positive impact on the communities served
• You are looking for new technical and leadership challenges
• You thrive when you work as part of a team
• You enjoy learning and helping others
• You hold yourself and others to a high standard
• You solve problems in a systematic way

This role pays between £41,880 - £47,822 (depending on experience) and alongside your salary, Insolvency Service contributes £11,307 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. You will also be required you to go to your local Insolvency Service office twice a week.
