Job description

A Vacancy at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
We are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Occupational Therapist to join our friendly and supportive In-Patient Orthopaedic Team working between Wrightington Hospital and Royal Albert and Edward Infirmary
The role will involve supervision of junior staff and participation in student education. The position will be 37.5 hours per week on a permanent basis. The successful candidate must be able to cover our weekend shifts on a rota basis.
It is important that you detail in your supporting statement how you meet the essential/desirable requirements given on the person specification.
The role will require you to work across all areas in the Trust which includes those that are designated as positive, asymptomatic and negative COVID wards.
Candidates will be required to present original certificates for qualifications at interview stage

The successful candidate will-
• Have post graduate experience with orthopaedic in patient practice and a knowledge of Occupational Therapy Interventions with a range of conditions and presentations.
• Be able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team, under pressure at times, in a fast moving environment with a genuine commitment to patient care within this setting.
• Have an interest in service development is essential and the successful candidate will work along side senior colleagues to evaluate service provision and be key to change management within the department.
• At times be required to carry out assessment visits to patient homes so access to transport is desirable.

On-Call
Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
• To provide occupational therapy intervention to patients
• To manage a defined caseload using evidence based/client centred principles to access, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
• To regularly supervise occupational therapy students on practice placement.
• To provide leadership and clinical supervision for other junior staff as delegated by supervisor.
• To support team leads in the development and delivery of in service training for therapy colleagues
• To consider and support service development alongside senior colleagues including data collection, audits, service review etc.
