Senior Optical Engineer / Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer Oxfordshire HYBRID 3 days onsite

ARCA Resourcing is partnered with a high-tech company in Oxfordshire that is keen to hire a Senior Optical Engineer / Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer to join their rapidly growing specialist team. Responsibilities:

• Mechanical and opto-mechanical designs, encompassing modeling, testing, and validation, which includes tasks such as structural and packaging design, thermal analysis, vibration mitigation, and incorporation of integrated photonics.
• Converting product specifications into mechanical frameworks and design concepts.
• Conducting modeling, simulation, and analytical tasks necessary to ensure optimal product functionality.
• Bringing together mechanical subsystems with electrical, optical, and other interrelated subsystems

Essential skills:

• Zemax (optical modelling software) experience is preferred
• Demonstrable experience integrating optical components into mechanical systems in recent/current roles
• Knowledge of optics and lasers - ideally hands on experience aligning optical systems/handling of optics/understanding of various optical components.
• Able to align and charaterise optical assemblies without supervision
• An engineering degree ideally with a focus on opto-mechanical
• Expertise in hardware product development, initiating new products, and managing Product Life Cycle stages
• Experience integrating precision-engineered components into operational devices and products.
• Experience of optical components, including mirrors, lenses, and optics sensitive to polarisation.
• Optimal techniques for mounting optical components.
• Involvement in supporting FMEAs and adhering to industry-leading protocols for product development.
• Demonstrates a sound comprehension of engineering principles and methodologies, ideally GD&T.
• CAD software experience
