Job description

This job holder will be a key member of the payroll team and be instrumental in the team achieving its objectives associated with delivering an accurate, timely and 'service focused' payroll and provide a first-class payroll service and payroll support to approximately 7500 employees in throughout the UK.

Description

The Senior Payroll Officer (HYBRID) role involves;

  • working as part of a small, dedicated, fully in-house, Payroll team.
  • Using systems Workday & Resourcelink
  • Check and ensure all payroll data has been correctly applied to the payroll so that the payroll is accurate.
  • Oversee the processing of the monthly payrolls, to ensure an efficient, accurate and timely payroll is completed.
  • Ensure all monthly reporting is completed and distributed accordingly to the business.
  • Collate and communicate the annual payroll timescales for the payroll team and HR Shared Services.
  • Ensuring that any external or internal changes, that have a payroll impact are incorporated.
  • Assist the Payroll manager with the reconciliation of all payroll general ledger accounts, including HMRC, pension and all other Third party payments, ensuring that all changes and corrections are made in a timely manner.
  • Assist to develop, monitor, and evaluate appropriate payroll processes as deemed necessary in accordance with SOX and audit requirements, liaising and gaining agreement with other stakeholders where applicable, to underpin the efficient and compliant operation of the function.
  • Assist with the implementation of any required system upgrades, liaising with IT and third-party providers, ensuring that all changes made are user acceptance tested to deliver the required results on time and in line with the payroll cycle.
  • Assist with the monthly HMRC reporting required to meet current legislation and deadlines.
  • Support with the full end to end process for end of year, ensuring all reporting and payments are paid within relevant timescales.
  • Oversee the payroll ServiceNow ticketing system, ensuring that SLAs are met and that all queries are assigned.
  • Supporting the payroll admin team in responding at peak times of the month.

Profile

A successful Senior Payroll Officer (HYBRID) should have:

  • Previous experience of having managed an in-house payroll system, ideally in high volume environments, preferably with exposure to a variety of payroll technologies.
  • Previous experience of having worked in a Shared Service environment is desirable
  • Resourcelink desirable
  • Workday desirable
  • Ability to work under pressure to strict deadlines making informed decisions when necessary.
  • Microsoft 365 essential (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and appropriate communication skills for interacting and influencing at all levels in the business.

Job Offer

The Senior Payroll Officer (HYBRID) role offers a base salary of £35-40,000, plus hyrbrid working, and benefits.

HOURS: 35 hours per week
